Foreign Policy A Central Concern For The Average American

With our representatives more focused on domestic issues, such as the economy, most overlook or simply ignore whatââ¬â¢s going on overseas. As a result, our leaders fail to address these issues and even those running for president resist defining their stance on foreign policy in a concrete fashion because they know most Americans are not paying attention. I will argue that foreign policy should play a much more significant role in our political system and that by devaluing it, we put our domestic safety in jeopardy. Malcolm X had a very interesting life and there were several aspects that affected his views of American society. In ââ¬Å"The Autobiography of Malcolm Xâ⬠by Alex Haley, the three main things that effected Malcolmââ¬â¢s life was his arrival in the city of Boston, the conk he received, and his brother Reginald. These three symbols changed his life forever. Also all of them were connected as well. Malcolm X, being from Lansing, Michigan, never expected his life to change as drastically as it did. Growing up in Lansing, Malcolm was exposed to the negative parts of the city. He even predicted his own death to happen due to violence since most of his family was victims of violence. In Lansing, hardly any black man died from natural causes. Empire of the Spirit is an introduction to the delusion of a war solution, they think that war can be an answer to their needs and by going to war they can achieve or gain what they want, but for doing it they lose so much more. For over two thousand three hundred twenty six years people continue to make the same mistakes. People continue fighting in the Eastern parts of the World, destroying infrastructure, schools, and masks. It causes physical, emotional and psychological harm to civilization and ignorance of human rights raising new population frighten and violent. Violence increases and escalates unpredictably, even rape is part of a weapon of war, missing, and cutting throats and all of these just for in reach someone packets and have resourceful land today. But only acceptance and unity is a better way of life than the tragedies and consequences of war. The Empire of Spirit gives hope that once again the world can coexist in peace. When people chose war they go against their right morals, they killing and corrupt their brothers and sisters from peaceful life in order to learn from history, we must analyze how war has devastated many lives and cultures, and to make changes in the way we interact with each other. Greed intolerance, and racism threatens all of us, but by looking at the model giving to us by the Indian people, perhaps we can begin to live amongst each other with mutual respect and harmony.

It even aims at highlighting the practice that should be undertaken and whether the outcomes match with the desired results. It further discusses about real life communication with a clinical leader whom I consider to be a mentor and whose performance as a clinical leader is idealised by me. What is leadership is the most obvious question which must be hovering over our minds before we understand the concept of clinical leadership. Leadership is a quality which an individual possesses basis which he or she can inspire and self force a person to work or perform a task towards the accomplishment of the goals set by a leader. Leadership is viewed differently by different people but the ultimate goals are same i.e. to inspire its followers to work ethically and do the right things in the right manner and ensure that the vision is fulfilled (Giltinane, 2013). In recent times, I have viewed an increase demand for leaders in the nursing segment simply because there has been a shortage in the number of nurses. Reasons are low pay scales, lack of career growth in the said segment and low profile in the healthcare sector. Due to the same the need for a good clinical leadership took shape that would enable retention of good nurses and ensure that adequate support is being given to the patients. The very next question which arises is what clinical leadership means. On communicating personally with a clinical leader I understood that experience in the field of nursing is the main requirement for becoming a successful leader in this field. An effective clinical leader is one who leads by example and follows all the rules and regulations spelt out by the hospital to which he or she is associated with so as to conduct his duties smoothly (Cook. Leathard, 2004). Thus a clinical leader is one who himself provides first hand care to the patients and also has the ability to drive other nurses to work efficiently. However, there exists some difference between a clinical leader and a manager even though the two words are used interchangeably. A leader does not have the power to delegate. The powers that they have acquired are by time and informal and their main task is to motivate their team members and guide them towards working for a common goal, thus a good clinical leader is one who has appreciable communication skills. But clinical managers have to play a formal role wherein his position is well defined by the organization and his duties and responsibilities are also pronounced by the management. He has the authority to define the work of his juniors and make strategic decisions as well (Anderson, 2012). The confusion lies with regards what is the difference between the two then. The line of differentiation is very thin with overlapping duties. My interview with the clinical leader made me conclude that she follows transformational form of leadership which helped her attain success as she ensured to involve her subordinates and understand their requirements as well. She believed in the concept of raising the morale level of the team members and motivate them towards fulfilling of a common goal i.e. taking care of the patients with the best possible efforts (Hutchinson, Jackson, 2013). The views of all the nurses who are a part of her team were always welcomed. Thus before arriving at any specific decision, involvement of all the team members is a necessity is what she preaches. She enlightened me to the fact that where the staff turnover is the highest, such a form of democracy is the best possible method for achieving success. Further to this, I also came to know that she follows a coaching leadership style wherein she also discusses with individual members of her team and helps them to overcome their weaknesses and boost their strengths further(Weselby, 2014). She said transformational form of leadership if coupled with an attitude of concern for the employees career will yield better results. On asking her further questions about what is lacking in most of the clinical leaders which deters them to achieve success, she replied in one word i.e. accessibility. She says that being a leader does not mean that the individual has to be high-headed. Many a times nurses want to discuss about their problems and issues with their leaders as they know that he or she will be able to help her but the issue with regards accessibility of the leader defeats the entire purpose. The said theory stated by her got strengthened when I conducted a survey amongst various other nurses (Bott et.al. 2011). They all voted for ease in approachability and the fact that the leader herself should have the quality of self efficacy else it is difficult to gain support and motivation. Communication, is what the interviewee specified by herself while I was shooting my questions. She emphasized that success of any leader is impossible if he or she cannot communicate clearly and transparently. It is through effective communication that medical errors can be eliminated at the most and the patients queries can be resolved (Eason, 2009). It is very important in this field that the patients are made to feel at ease and the same can be possible only if the nurses are lead by such a clinical leader who encourages them to be optimistic in their approach. Communication skills should be developed through adequate training sessions which would help to boost a level of confidence amongst the nurses as they would be able to resolve to the patients needs and desires more effectively. However it is the duty of a leader to understand these requirements of its members and if training is not possible then hold sessions amongst its team only to eradicate such problems with ease and ga in their support. My next question was about bedside leadership- an area which has always been of concern for most of the hospitals as well as the patients. People who get admitted are seen praying for good nurses who are supportive and understanding as well. On the same, she replied that she herself was a bedside nurse when she started with her career in this field and it is this area of the job which helps to develop the skill of a leader most appropriately. She said that to become successful in this field, firstly she undertook adequate training as to how to behave with patients of different kinds. Secondly she worked upon her patience level which is the most important else the patient and his or her family members will never be satisfied (Cummings, 2013). Patience is the core need for achieving success in this profession. Thus I came to know that the clinical nurses became part of committees, participated in the projects and also imparted superior care to the patients. Further to this the various leadership training programs and seminars also boosted their morale to lead the team and transforming their skills from just a nurse to a clinical leader. The reforms being bought in this sector clearly shows that expert and knowledgeable nurses should be employed at the bedside as such a care is ultimate for the recovery of any patient. They are well trained and understand the meaning of urgency of the hour, know how to deal with critical situations with bravery and courage, are experts in multi tasking, ensure that the requirements of the family members as well as the patients are fulfilled at the most and most importantly coordinate with the health care team (Mannix, et.al. 2013). There is a positive correlation between the retention of the nurses and the output of the patients. Thus bedside leadership can reap in benefits only through adequate training and awareness programs. Lastly, seeing the kind of success she has attained in this field in such a short time, I could not resist myself from asking her as to who her role model was and what forced her to take up this responsibility. She said that it was her boss who was her role model and she had taught her to be supportive and it was under her guidance and influence that she took up the said position. She also added that she had never lead a team in the past before this but when she was at a junior level, she used to ensure that all her colleagues and those junior to her performed their work at their best. She used to talk to people personally and this is how she is now a successful clinical leader (Mannix et.al. 2013). Thus if I have to sum up with regards what makes her an effective clinical leader, the attitude of passion, dedication, clarity in communication and easy availability to the team members is the crux to accomplishment of her duty with ease. Therefore this interview changed my perception and I concluded that in order to become a successful leader especially in the field of nursing it is very important to have trust in ones own self and should have good values. Those who are not compassionate towards their work will ever be able to provide the best care to their patients (Happell, 2009). One more thing that I learnt from this interview was that in order to ensure that the patient recovers fast, the nurses play a very integral part as they are the ones who take care of the patients after any surgery or treatment. I am more inclined towards understanding the meaning of bedside leadership as this is the most difficult part of this profession as per my view and what I could gauge from the interviewee as well. She made me realise that for a nurse to lead at the bedside she should possess some characteristics such as flexibility, confidence in one self and attitude to motivate others. They are leaders of the patients they look after at the bedside, although the role as a leader is not defined officially. There performance has a direct control over the safety and the recovery of the patients. They are the ones who have a direct impact on the organizations performance as well. Therefore on a summarising note, I am of the concept that to become an effective as well as successful leader, I need to ensure to develop my communication skills and patience level as well. I should listen to my seniors and try to improvise in order to climb the ladder further up. Lastly, I should believe in myself and should not deceive my morals and values. The changes include autonomy, psychological and physical changes, sexual maturation, and other changes in the body, etc. Likewise, people with overweight suffer from unhealthy life in their adolescent period (Greenleaf, Petrie and Martin 2014). Family de-motivates them, due to their physical imbalance, therefore, making them sufferers of depression, and anxiety, etc. Obesity also increases the potentiality of the type II diabetes, cardiovascular disorders, chronic kidney diseases, etc. Parents having poor health conditions may consider a problem for the child and also in the working field of the parent, by taking frequent leaves (Greenleaf, Petrie and Martin 2014). The country should be subjected to improvise the current scenario in health and wellbeing of the kids. Due to this reason, some strategies are required to be placed for the increment of the physical health of the people. Some of the requirements include nutrition, physical activities, and obesity, etc. (Godfrey and Lawrence 2010). The main nutritional supplements which are to be noted as a priority are from breast feeding, which is the sole nutritional supplement for the infants. Breast feeding not only provides nutrition to the child but also supports the baby with a potential immunity, development of the functioning of the body, promoting a long-term health, and it also reduces the risk of obesity for the kids. For the potential awareness, we can provide a campaigning through newspapers, television, also most importantly educate the fa mily members to follow up with the best deed and need to the kids (Moss and Yeaton 2014). Parents much encourage their children with physical exercises, outdoor activities, swimming, etc. The parents must encourage the kids to follow up with the best nutritional values and intake of food according to the health of the kids, and avoid the junk foods. Healthy nutritional values provide a healthy lifestyle for the kids; this would also assist the child with the ability to resolve the depression and anxiety of their daily works (Tietzel and Rose 2013). Surviving the Life of a Student-Athlete
Balancing high school athletics and academics can seem borderline impossibleââ¬âmany students in honors and AP classes canââ¬â¢t handle the incessant practicing or late games, and Iââ¬â¢ve witnessed many of my scholastically talented friends quit their sports for lack of time. However, as a junior enrolled in 4 AP courses and president of two clubs who recently completed a three-month-long varsity soccer season, I can attest: it IS possible. Here are some things I wish I knew going into my season.You canââ¬â¢t do everythingâ⬠¦ ...even though I know you want to. Believe me, Iââ¬â¢m the same way. But dabbling in a little bit of everything is much less fulfilling than committing yourself to a few things and doing them to your utmost. This season, my team practiced every day after school for two hoursââ¬âall of my other clubs and activities were during this two hour time, and I had to make a very hard decision: Give up attending most of my favorite clubs, or playing the sport I love. I chose soccer, and withdrawal from my activities was not nearly as brutal as I thought. I can still attend lots of meetings in the mornings instead of after school, and I enjoyed the new feeling of commitment- instead of constantly being spread too thin by numerous little things, soccer became my goal. I was more motivated and passionate about this one thing, because all of my drive was focused rather than scattered. It may seem like a sport is a superfluous addition to high school life, but understand that it can be an in tegral installation in your schedule if you really buy in. Sleep still exists. Sleep: That ever-elusive hazy dream twirling in tired teens minds. Contrary to popular belief, it does existââ¬âin fact, it is alive and well, and if youââ¬â¢re going to be a successful student-athlete, you better befriend it right away. It may seem impossible to sleep when youââ¬â¢ve only just gotten home from your game at 10PM, but to be able to perform well in both the classroom and the field, youââ¬â¢re going to have to be even more resourceful with your time. Instead of playing on your phone the last five minutes of class, whip out that math homework and finish it. During lunch, take your sandwich to the library. It may seem like a drag, but youââ¬â¢ll be happy when you come home late after a tough game to an empty backpack. Love what you do. The life of a student-athlete is certainly not the most glamorous oneââ¬âyouââ¬â¢ll miss that fun party, the trip to the beach, or a Parks-and-Rec marathon because youââ¬â¢ve chosen to be dedicated to something else. But donââ¬â¢t let dedication be confused with obligation. If you truly love your sport, thatââ¬â¢s all the motivation youââ¬â¢ll need. Youââ¬â¢re going to feel confused at one point in your season: Why am I doing this to myself? Can I handle this for two more months? But when you receive an A on that Calculus test and win the regional championship all in one day, youââ¬â¢ll know why you did it: Hard work does truly pay off. Time management can be tough. History of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic Capitol Santo Domingo, theà capital city of the Dominican Republic, is the oldest continually inhabited European settlement in the Americas, having been founded in 1498 by Bartholomew Columbus, brother of Christopher. The city has a long and fascinating history, having been victimized by pirates, overrun by slaves, re-named by a dictator and more. It is a city where history comes to life, and the Dominicans are justly proud of their status as the oldest European city in the Americas. Foundation of Santo Domingo Santo Domingo de Guzmn was actually the third settlement on Hispaniola. The first, Navidad, consisted of some 40 sailors who were left behind by Columbus on his first voyage when one of his ships sank. Navidad was wiped out by angry natives between the first and second voyages. When Columbus returned on his second voyage, he founded Isabela, near present-day Luperà ³n to the northwest of Santo Domingo. Conditions at Isabela were not optimal, so Bartholomew Columbus moved the settlers to present-day Santo Domingo in 1496, officially dedicating the city in 1498. Early Years and Importance The first colonial governor, Nicols de Ovando, arrived in Santo Domingo in 1502 and the city was officially the headquarters for the exploration and conquest of the New World. Spanish courts and bureaucratic offices were set up, and thousands of colonists passed through on their way to Spainââ¬â¢s newly discovered lands. Many of the important events of the early colonial era, such as the conquests of Cuba and Mexico, were planned in Santo Domingo. Piracy The city soon fell on hard times. With the conquest of the Aztecs and Inca complete, many of the new settlers preferred to go to Mexico or South America and the city stagnated. In January of 1586, notorious pirate Sir Francis Drake was able to easily capture the city with less than 700 men. Most of the inhabitants of the city had fled when they heard Drake was coming. Drake stayed for a monthà until he had received a ransom of 25,000 ducats for the city, and when he left, he and his men carried off everything they could, including the church bells. Santo Domingo was a smoldering ruin by the time he left. The French and Haiti Hispaniola and Santo Domingo took a long time to recover from the pirate raid, and in the mid-1600s, France, taking advantage of the still-weakened Spanish defenses and looking for American colonies of its own, attacked and captured the western half of the island. They renamed it Haiti and brought in thousands of African slaves. The Spanish were powerless to stop themà and retreated to the eastern half of the island. In 1795 the Spanish were forced to cede the rest of the island, including Santo Domingo, to the French as a result of wars between France and Spain after the French Revolution. Haitian Domination and Independence The French did not own Santo Domingo for very long. In 1791, African slaves in Haiti revolted, and by 1804 had thrown the French out of the western half of Hispaniola. In 1822, Haitian forces attacked the eastern half of the island, including Santo Domingo, and captured it. It wasnââ¬â¢t until 1844 that a determined group of Dominicans were able to drive the Haitians back, and the Dominican Republic was free for the first time since Columbus first set foot there. Civil Wars and Skirmishes The Dominican Republic had growing pains as a nation. It constantly fought with Haiti, was reoccupied by the Spanish for four years (1861-1865), and went through a series of presidents. During this time, colonial-era structures, such as defensive walls, churches, and the Diego Columbus house, were neglected and fell into ruin. American involvement in the Dominican Republic increased greatly after the construction of the Panama Canal: it was feared that European powers could seize the canal using Hispaniola as a base. The United States occupied the Dominican Republic from 1916 to 1924. The Trujillo Era From 1930 to 1961 the Dominican Republic was ruled by a dictator, Rafael Trujillo. Trujillo was famous for self-aggrandizement, and renamed several places in the Dominican Republic after himself, including Santo Domingo. The name was changed back after his assassination in 1961. Santo Domingo Today Present day Santo Domingo has rediscovered its roots. The city is currently undergoing a tourism boom, and many colonial-era churches, fortifications, and buildings have recently been renovated. The colonial quarter is a great place to visit to see old architecture, see some sights and have a meal or a cold drink.

So HMC focused on making effort to make economizing fuel vehicles with minimize cost to respect customers need and have implemented creative marketing strategies to entice reluctant consumers as most experienced double-digit percentage declines in sales. Although the worldââ¬â¢s automotive market remains sluggish, and some of the worldââ¬â¢s largest carmakers have been sorely tested on how to survive, HMC has weathered the global crisis relatively well. HMC has focus on three technology areas for improving energy efficiency of the power-train energy efficiency improvement, minimizing energy loss, and creating renewable energy in order to lower CO2 emissions from vehicles. In Europe, HMC succeeded in low CO2 emissions products including the Blue Drive variant of the i30 diesel model, Blue Drive variants, the i10, the i20, the i30, and the Tucson ix blue.
